In recognition of Engineer’s Week, Tom Gredell shared this with staff, “Annual Engineer’s Week is held in February around the time of President’s Day. Many say that George Washington was an engineer, although they did not have that designation in his time. He definitely was a surveyor. All of our GER team have a hand in ‘engineering’ the solutions to our projects! For that, you should all be proud that every project makes at least a small difference in the world! So Happy Engineer’s Week to ALL.”
Engineers Week was established in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) to coincide with President George Washington’s birthday (Feb. 22), honoring him as the nation’s first engineer, his extensive work as a land surveyor and his contributions to early American infrastructure. It was created to promote understanding and appreciation of the engineering profession and to inspire the next generation.
As engineers, it is our promise to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. GER proudly keeps this promise through our work and involvement in the community.
