GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc. (GER) staff attended the 50th Annual Missouri Waste Control Coalition (MWCC) conference, https://missouriwastecontrolcoalition.wildapricot.org, July 9-11, 2023. Annually, the MWCC organized and holds this Environmental Conference, a conference that has run continuously since 1972, making it one of the oldest environmental conferences in the nation, bringing almost 500 coalition members representing the public, environmental regulators and waste industry professionals together at this year’s conference. GER had an exhibit booth and also provided a door prize, sponsored the raffle, and co-sponsored the Welcome Reception. GER employees attending the conference were Tom Gredell, John Browning, Mike Carlson, Ken Ewers, Jacob Fitzpatrick, Rickie Roberts and Gary Pendergrass.
Jacob Fitzpatrick and Rickie Roberts attended the MO Chaper Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) meeting while at the conference.
It was a beautiful day for a game of golf to start the conference. The GER golf team consisted of Cole Mengwasser, Jacob Fitzpatrick, Tom Gredell, and Mike Carlson.
We would like to express our appreciation to Ken Ewers, R.G., Senior Geologist, GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc., for his countless hours provided as President of Missouri Waste Control Coalition (MWCC). His efforts have benefited all MWCC members and conference attendees. As Out-Going President, Ken was presented an appreciation gift of a bison bone letter opener with malachite handle. (Malachite is a green copper carbonate mineral and its meaning is “transformation and positive change”, how fitting for Ken!!)
Mike Duvall, Rickie Roberts and Tom Gredell panel discussion
GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc. staff members Thomas R. Gredell, P.E. and Rickie Roberts, P.E., along with Mike Duvall, presented at the 50th Annual Missouri Waste Control Coalition (MWCC) conference on July 10, 2023. The presentation was a panel discussion of “A Look at 50 Years of Waste Management”. Tom Gredell, Rickie Roberts and Mike Duvall are all past MWCC Presidents and past Missouri Department of Natural Resources employees during the early implementation of waste management laws in Missouri and witnessed the changes first-hand. It is important to understand where we have been in order to understand the journey of the solid waste industry and where it may lead.
Dan Meers, aka KC Wolf, was the conference luncheon speaker. He provided an entertaining, inspiring, and motivational talk that only the best professional mascot could do! Tom Gredell, aka Andy Reid impersonator, was thrilled to get his picture taken with the KC Wolf. Mike Carlson was also lucky enough to win an autographed Patrick Mahomes picture during the raffle. Go KC Chiefs!
