Engineer’s Week 2026

In recognition of Engineer’s Week, Tom Gredell shared this with staff, “Annual Engineer’s Week is held in February around the time of President’s Day.  Many say that George Washington was an engineer, although they did not have that designation in his time.  He definitely was a surveyor.  All of our GER team have a hand in ‘engineering’ the solutions to our projects!  For that, you should all be proud that every project makes at least a small difference in the world!  So Happy Engineer’s Week to ALL.”

Engineers Week was established in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) to coincide with President George Washington’s birthday (Feb. 22), honoring him as the nation’s first engineer, his extensive work as a land surveyor and his contributions to early American infrastructure.  It was created to promote understanding and appreciation of the engineering profession and to inspire the next generation.

As engineers, it is our promise to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. GER proudly keeps this promise through our work and involvement in the community.

Talk to us about engineering opportunities and careers with GER!

New Licensed Staff

GER is excited to announce that Liberty “Libby” Sitzes is now a licensed  Professional Engineer by the Missouri State Board for Architects, Engineers, Land Surveyors & Landscape Architects!

To become a licensed Professional Engineer, engineers must earn a Bachelor of Science degree from a nationally accredited engineering program, pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer for at least four years or equivalent as required, pass the Principles and Practices of Engineering (PE) exam,  and apply for a license from a state licensure board. Being a Professional Engineer is the engineering profession’s highest standard of competence and responsibility.  This is an honorable feat of accomplishment.

Libby graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology with a  B.S. in Environmental Engineering and M.S. in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.  Libby joined the GER team in August 2025, bringing over sixteen years of experience in government and public consulting.

Congratulations Libby!
