2026 Missouri Waste Control Coalition Conference Presentation

Ken Ewers and Tristanna Herrera, Environmental Geologists at GER, will co-present a session titled, “Groundwater Sample collection – What procedures are really IMPORTANT?”, at the 53nd Annual Missouri Waste Control Coalition (MWCC) conference, July 12-14, 2026.  The presentation will involve the discussion of the “why” behind the list of technical procedures that must be performed leading up to, during, and following a groundwater sampling event.  It can be challenging to understand the reason some procedures are necessary, especially when they feel inconsequential.  However you can “Unlock the Unknown” by knowing the “why”, which can make it easier to support and understand the best way to complete groundwater sampling tasks .

MWCC has organized and held this “must attend” Environmental Conference continuously since 1972.  To showcase GER’s strong commitment to MWCC, GER participates annually in this conference in several ways.  You can find us at our exhibit booth, moderating sessions, providing door prizes, and sponsorships of the Scholarship Raffle and Sunday evening’s reception.  We hope to see you at the conference!

Brownfields Presentation at MWCC conference

Ken Koon and Jacob Wolken, Environmental Scientists at GER, will co-present a session titled, “Brownfields Redevelopment of an Old Historic Rail Yard”, at the 53nd Annual Missouri Waste Control Coalition (MWCC) conference, July 12-14, 2026.  The presentation involves discussion of a site that served as a railroad yard on the Missouri Pacific Railroad prior to the Civil War.  Two major railroads, the Missouri Pacific and the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Line, settled in Sedalia MO, and the site was used for railroad purposes since the 1860’s.  The site was redeveloped into a Boys and Girls Club.  The project involved navigating the investigation, risk management, and capping the contamination as part of the cleanup.

MWCC has organized and held this “must attend” Environmental Conference continuously since 1972.  GER’s commitment to MWCC is strong, evidenced by our exhibit booth, moderating sessions, providing door prizes, and sponsorships of the Scholarship Raffle and Sunday evening’s reception.

We hope to see you at the conference.

Distinguished Service Award

At the ACEC-MO Winter Meeting on Thursday, March 5, 2026, Thomas Gredell accepted the Distinguished Service Award on behalf of GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc., recognizing 25 years of service and commitment to the engineering profession.  GER was established in 2001 and has steadily grown, becoming an industry leader in environmental engineering.

The ACEC Missouri Winter Meeting and Awards Banquet brought together engineering professions from across the state.  The meeting included committee meetings, awards banquet and CEO Roundtable sessions, as well as the board of directors meeting.

GER has proudly supported ACEC Missouri for many years and encourages all Professional Engineers to become active in our association and committees.  The American Council of Engineering Companies of Missouri, Inc., ACEC/MO, is an organization of professional engineering firms in private practice.  ACEC/MO promotes professional qualifications-based selection for design services and provides educational, professional, and insurance programs for its members and their employees.

GER is grateful for ACEC-MO efforts to promote the engineering business and professional interests of its members.  Thank you for this recognition and congratulations to our entire GER team who made this possible.

Engineer’s Week 2026

In recognition of Engineer’s Week, Tom Gredell shared this with staff, “Annual Engineer’s Week is held in February around the time of President’s Day.  Many say that George Washington was an engineer, although they did not have that designation in his time.  He definitely was a surveyor.  All of our GER team have a hand in ‘engineering’ the solutions to our projects!  For that, you should all be proud that every project makes at least a small difference in the world!  So Happy Engineer’s Week to ALL.”

Engineers Week was established in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) to coincide with President George Washington’s birthday (Feb. 22), honoring him as the nation’s first engineer, his extensive work as a land surveyor and his contributions to early American infrastructure.  It was created to promote understanding and appreciation of the engineering profession and to inspire the next generation.

As engineers, it is our promise to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. GER proudly keeps this promise through our work and involvement in the community.

Talk to us about engineering opportunities and careers with GER!
