GREDELL Engineering Resources Staff Attend MWCC Conference

GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc. staff recently attended the 2021 Missouri Waste Control Coalition (MWCC) conference held at Osage Beach, MO. Attendees were: Thomas R. Gredell, P.E., President; Mikel Carlson, R.G., Principal Geologist; Ken Ewers, R.G., Environmental Geologist; John Browning, P.E., Senior Project Engineer; Mick Cossairt, R.G., Senior Geologist/Project Mgr.; Chris Landoll, P.E., Senior Project Mgr./Engineer; Gary Pendergrass, P.E., R.G., Senior Project Mgr./Engineer; and, Jacob Fitzpatrick, Intern and MWCC Scholarship Winner.

The theme for this year’s conference was “Now Entering The Twilight Zone of Waste Control.” Over 400 professionals attended the MWCC conference, which provides an annual forum for discussing and sharing new developments in waste management, site remediation and environmental protection. MWCC was formed in 1981 to bring together citizens, government, business and industry to discuss the rapidly changing field of waste management.

Congratulations Rickie Roberts!

CONGRATULATION’S are in order!! Rickie L. Roberts, P.E., has retired after a 50 year career in Engineering. Rickie was employed by GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc. for over 18 years during his career. Rickie was a leader in Environmental and Civil Engineering projects and led the Springfield branch office. Early in his career while employed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Rickie was instrumental in beginning Missouri’s Solid and Hazardous Waste Management regulatory programs. His knowledge and experience has been passed on to many employees through his mentoring.

Please help us wish Rickie all the best in this next chapter of life. He plans to spend more time with his grandkids and with hobbies in the great outdoors. His knowledge and skills will be missed!

Mikel Carlson 25 Years as Geologist

Mikel Carlson, R.G., of GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc. is recognized by the Division of Professional Registration for being a licensed Geologist in the state of Missouri for 25 years! He is also a Registered Geologist in the states of Kansas and Illinois. His knowledge and experience as a geologist in Missouri in unrivaled.

2020 Review

Welcome 2021! We all likely agree that 2020 had its ups and downs and all of us are ready to move on! But first, reflect on the good things that happened in 2020!

As 2020 came to an end, GREDELL Engineering Resources celebrated our 20^th ANNIVERSARY! Through the hard work and dedication of past and present employees, Gredell Engineering continues to offer outstanding services to our clients!
There were no staff furloughs or layoffs during the uncertainty we all faced! All staff willingly helped with any need even when outside of their normal duties!
We employed engineering interns during the summer and December 2020 to provide them with experiences that will broaden their skills and familiarity with environmental, geotechnical and civil engineering projects!
We held our Annual Open House, with social distancing and safety at the forefront! The weather was great and the opportunity to catch up with clients and friends was a much needed break! We spread out under shade tents provided by Jefferson Bank. All food was prepared using safety measures or purchased in individual packages. Voluntary donations from our guests contributed a donation of $100 to the Jefferson City Samaritan Center. Leftover, untouched food was donated to the Holts Summit food pantry (pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans, chips, cookies and pickles).
Staff donated $250 to Habitat for Humanity, volunteered time at a Kansas City food pantry, and gave of their time to help others!
In lieu of Christmas gifts to our clients and friends, our company donated $1,000 to food banks in Jefferson City, Springfield and Kansas City at Christmastime!
We celebrated the marriage of Mike and Gretchen!
“To-Do” lists became shorter! With the change in workload, those things that we never seem to get around to doing, got marked off our lists!

The COVID-19 pandemic changed many aspects of daily life and the phrase “business as usual” is hardly spoken. Thinking outside the box has become a necessity! Individuals, businesses and organizations have all found creative ways to provide the necessary, normal functions of our lives! Technology has become a bigger part of our daily lives, requiring us to learn new methods and skills!

Staff presented at virtual trainings to stay in touch with our community! Two presentations were given by Connie Walden, PhD, E.I., at the MO Water and Wastewater virtual training series in November and December. Thomas R. Gredell, P.E., presented at the Association of Conservation Engineers Virtual Conference on October 20, 2020. Evolution of Landfill Design presentation was given to engineering students at MS&T in Rolla by Thomas Gredell.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many staff completed extra training and education!
In April, our company joined the local Chamber campaign to help “Reboot the Local Economy”. Specific new services provided through the year, applicable to homeowners and businesses, resulted in $1,425 donated to local charities! We are happy to report that we completed one Onsite Wastewater Treatment System design, five Soil Morphology reports, two Geotechnical Investigations, and three Phase I Environmental Site Assessments!

Winderl joins GREDELL Engineering

Nathan Winderl, E.I., recently joined the staff of GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc. (Gredell Engineering) as a Civil/Environmental Engineer. Mr. Winderl has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology. While studying at Missouri S&T, Mr. Winderl worked internships in: highway construction; mining/mineral processing; geologic/geotechnical consulting for renewable energy projects; and worked with MoDOT on permitting and right-of-way projects. Mr. Winderl’s education and experience adds to and complements Gredell Engineering’s current staff and capabilities.

Gredell Engineering is a civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering consulting company based in Jefferson City, with offices in the Kansas City metropolitan area and Springfield, MO. Mr. Winderl will be based in Gredell Engineering’s Jefferson City office, but will work on projects throughout the state and in adjoining states.
